After breakfast, we will hit the road in the morning heading towards Sanchi. On the way to Sanchi, you will stop and visit Bhimbetka Caves.
Bhimbetka is a World Heritage Site and is situated south of Bhopal. This is the site of the second oldest cave paintings in the World. The location is beautiful, along the Satpura range of mountains. The area around the caves is forested, which adds to the natural beauty. Sanchi is 46 kms north east of Bhopal. You will be staying in Sanchi tonight.
This morning you will be visiting the Sanchi Stupas.
Sanchi is unique for having the most perfect and well-preserved Buddhist stupas. The remains of Buddhist saints Sariputra and Mahamodgilya are also preserved here.
After Sanchi, you will leave to visit Udaygiri caves, about 15 kms from Sanchi, close to the town of Vidisha.
Udaygiri caves are rock-cut cave shrines, dating from 320-600 A.D. On the way we also visit Gyaraspur village. Gyaraspur is located near Vidisha (35 km) and Sanchi.
Gyaraspur was of considerable importance in medieval India. The place has several ruins of several old Hindu, Jain and Buddhist places of worship. These include Maladevi Temple, Hindola Torna and the Bajramath Temple.Dost Mohammad Khan, Nawab of Bhopal acquired the control of Gyaraspur in the early 18th century.
In the evening we will reach Udaipur.
Udaipur is a town in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh near Ganj Basoda. It is the site of a well-preserved Śhiva temple, a monument of national importance protected by the Archaeological Survey of India.
You will come back and stay at Udaigiri tonight.
After breakfast, departure to Bhopal.
